Howard Kelleher Memorial
Scholarship

Each year MERIT Resource Services offers two (2) $1,000 scholarships to Yakima Valley  high school seniors that are planning to attend college or trade school after high school. This year, for 2017, we are again adding a third $1,000 scholarship for students in Kittitas County. The Scholarship is in memory of Howard Kelleher who passed away in 2005 at the age of ninety-eight. Howard was a long time recovering alcoholic who tried to help others get sober. He was one of the original founders of MERIT Resource Services as well as a founder of Sundown M Ranch and Triumph Treatment Services. This year's scholarship application and essay are due on April 28, 2017. The application and cover letter may be downloaded on this page. Scholarship winners will be selected by a panel of judges who will grade applicant essays on the subject "How big of a problem is alcohol and drugs in your school, how does it affect your community, and what can be done about it?"
